Primary Care Faculty - Mid-level Provider.

The campus of Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine - Southern Utah (RVUCOM-SU) is located in Ivins, UT, 20 minutes from St. George, UT. PRIMARY PURPOSE:       Participate in clinical service and teaching at RVUCOM-SU.

  1. Provide exceptional clinical care services to patients at the Southern Utah Veterans Home (SUVH).
  2. Demonstrate full compliance with all rules and regulations of the SUVH.
  3. Provide exemplary medical documentation for all clinical visits in a timely manner and adhere to all guidelines set forth by the SUVH.
  4. Submit accurate documentation related to billing of clinical services in a regular and timely manner.
  5. Participate in sharing call and other after-hour duties related to patient care.  
  6. Participate in other clinic care services in other settings if deemed necessary by RVU administration.
  7. May participate in the education and instruction of medical students and other health care professional students as determined by department chair or vice chair while providing mentorship and motivations for learning, research and scholarly activity in classroom environments, clinical settings, active learning groups, and hands-on lab sessions.  
  8. Participate in inter-professional educational activities with RVU students and students from other programs or other universities.
  9. Participate in service to the university community and students through serving on committees and task forces as appointed.
  10. Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students when appropriate and provide feedback and remedial assistance to ensure that the students of the COM meet the standards established by the faculty and college and obtain the knowledge, skills and competency established.
  11. Participate in the assessment or evaluation of and provide feedback to other members of the faculty as a portion of the colleges ongoing quality improvement and assessment program.
  12. Maintain a personal and professional development plan and portfolio, including documentation of teaching, professional development activities and plans, service provided to college and communities, scholarly activity and research to assure personal growth and continued competency with specialty field.
  13. Demonstrate the highest standard of professionalism and ethical behavior in all aspects of personal and professional actions and performance.
  14. Demonstrate and role model an ongoing ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors and support staff.
  15. Demonstrate adaptability and the willingness to assist the university and college in fulfilling its mission and vision though teaching, academic administrative duties (course/system coordinator), providing patient care, community service and/or perform special duties as assigned.
  16. Advance the prestige of the University and College through advancement of its mission and vision and advancement of your personal career.
  17. Other duties as assigned by the SU Campus Dean or his/her designee.
  1. Demonstrate up-to-date, evidence-based medical care in the clinical setting
  2. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the delivery of medical education.
  3. Demonstrate ability to mentor and motivate students and peers.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the use of electronic health records.
  1. Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) degree from a U.S. accredited program.
  2. More than 3 (three) years of clinical experience in direct patient care.
  3. Academic and teaching experience.
  4. Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies. 
  5. Eligible for medical license and all required certificates in the state of Utah.
  6. Eligible for coverage by university’s malpractice insurer.
  1. Academic and teaching experience in a medical school or allied health professional setting.  
  2. More than 5 (five) years of clinical experience in direct patient care, preferably with nursing home experience.
  3. Exceptional professionalism and communication.
