PRIMARY PURPOSE:       The Director of Clinical Education, Principal Faculty for the Physician Assistant Program will work closely with the PA Program Director, the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education, and the Manager of Clinical Affairs to create an interprofessional clinical education experience for RVU students, primarily focusing on physician assistant students.  This individual will also play a leadership role in evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of the clinical curriculum in meeting course outcomes as well as how the clinical curriculum contributes to meeting program outcomes.  This is a full time position with salary and competitive benefits commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  1. Create a clinical curriculum emphasizing achievement of clinical competencies,  interprofessional collaborative competencies and meeting ARC-PA standards
  2. Develop clinical learning strategies consistent with the Mission and Goals of the program
  3. Collaborate with University Senior Administration, the PA Advisory Board, medical director, faculty, and staff in activities related to the clinical curriculum
  4. Create and implement assessment processes designed to evaluate the quality and outcomes of the clinical curriculum
  5. Liaise with appropriate offices and departments involved in medical/health education and with external agencies useful to the program’s clinical curriculum
  6. Manage the clinical tracking system
  7. Supervise the PA program clinical coordinator 
  8. Ensure clinical faculty members are appropriately oriented to the program mission and goals, specific teaching responsibilities, program instructional resources, and the learning objectives for which they are responsible
  9. Serve as co-chair of the PA Studies Curriculum Committee to provide leadership in facilitating high quality education through curriculum development and continuous self-assessment and improvement processes
  10. Provide administrative oversight for student portfolios
  11. Participate in activities of state, regional, and national organizations to promote a positive image of the PA concept within academic, lay, and professional communities
  12. Perform other duties as may be assigned 
  1. Knowledge of and experience with PA or medical clinical education (previous experience as a clinical preceptor or clinical coordinator is preferred)
  2. Ability to develop effective community relationships and partnerships
  3. Knowledge of core competencies for interprofessional collaborative practice
  4. Ability to mentor and teach in both a didactic and clinical environment 
  1. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)  
  2. Current license (or eligibility) to practice in Colorado
  3. Relevant Master’s Degree
  4. Ability to make a professional commitment to the RVU program development phase through anticipated implementation in July 2018.
  5. Ability to travel
