Adjunct Faculty for Scientific Methodologies in the Biomedical Sciences Department.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:       Assisting with Scientific Methodologies/Evidence Based Medicine course in the Fall of 2018 (2 credit hours).  On-campus hours will 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Tuesdays, from August 13 to December 14, 2018.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The adjunct faculty is responsible for small group facilitation, some teaching, and holding office hours for tutoring students.  In addition, this position will be involved in the development of test questions, grading, and analysis of assessments and other educational activities as determined by the Program or Course Director. They must have a strong commitment to maintain a positive and professional demeanor.  Detailed description below:
 
Teaching:
  1. Deliver curricular content within the Physician Assistant and Masters of Science Biomedical Science Programs including but not limited to:
    1. Small group facilitation
    2. Guest lecturing
    3. Individual and group tutoring sessions
  2. Development and analysis of test items
  3. Assessment and tracking of competency development measures in students
  4. Implementation and collection of data from Evidence Based Medicine assessment tools
Administrative:
  1. Management of student grades in online Learning Management System
  2. Collaborate with course directors from the PA and MSBS programs to ensure integration of curricular content
  3. Prompt and professional communication with faculty and students in person and electronically
Scholarship:
  1. Participate in scholarly work in collaboration with MSBS and PA team members.
 
 
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  1. A PhD student in a program that includes some combination of Biostatistics, Research Methods, Epidemiology or other related disciplines.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with students and faculty
 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. A PhD student in a program that includes some combination of Biostatistics, Research Methods, Epidemiology or other related disciplines.
  2. Official transcripts required upon hire
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. One year of teaching experience at an undergraduate or graduate level.
  2. Ability to mentor and teach students from various backgrounds and abilities
  3. Effective teaching skills
  4. Experience with various educational assessment methods
