Audio/Visual Technician.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:   Employee performs various technical and non-technical tasks associated with the operation of Audio Visual requests. Work is performed under specific instruction and supervision and may become routine after initial training period. Employee is expected to use limited independent judgment.
  1. Setting up, adjusting and operating audio-visual equipment for class lectures and presentations including: projectors and various other types of audio-visual equipment
  2. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the Audio Visual field.
  3. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  4. Provides technical assistance and/or training to staff in using the audio/visual equipment for events
  5. Reports hardware problems and or software problems to vendor or warrantee holder.
  6. Answers inquiries concerning the use of audio-visual equipment including: microphones, sound speakers, video screens, projectors, video monitors and lighting.
  7. Assist in hooking up a computer for a presentation. 
  1. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  2. Participate in community and professional outreach activities on behalf of the college and university.

  2. Knowledge of standard PC, laptop, and peripheral configurations.
  3. Extron operation
  4. Knowledge of distance learning technologies and operation
  5. Using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.
  6. In-depth and hands-on experience with Microsoft Technologies specifically focused on the Microsoft Office Suite, Windows 7, and Internet technologies.
  7. Communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  8. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and so forth.
  9. Ability to train users that may have limited A/V experience.
  10. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  11. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  12. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 
  1. High School diploma or GED
Preferred experience in theater/performance technical operations or, any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
